Last August 13, the 7-member all-Filipino pop group HORI7ON took fans on a nostalgic yet fresh ride with their comeback single Sumayaw Sumunod. The track is a modern twist on the OPM classic by The Boyfriends, and the boys made sure to blend the catchy 70s vibe with their signature K-pop flair.
The group launched their new single at the SM North Edsa Skydome, where they couldn’t hide their excitement about giving a Filipino favorite a global stage. "We really wanted to keep that old-school charm while mixing it with our HORI7ON style," shared Vinci. And they did just that—taking a song beloved by many and turning it into something today’s generation can vibe with.
What’s even more exciting is that after their local promotions, the boys are heading to Korea to showcase this OPM gem in three languages: Filipino, English, and Korean. "The chorus is all in Tagalog because we really want the world to feel that it’s an OPM song," Marcus explained. He, along with Reyster, we’re very hands-on in writing the lyrics, giving the song a fun, modern edge while staying true to its roots.
The energy at the event was all about spreading good vibes and making sure everyone—young and old—can’t help but dance along. "We want everyone, from toddlers to titos and titas, to just groove with us," said Marcus with a grin. And judging by the buzz around the release, it’s working!
HORI7ON is already topping charts, with both versions of Sumayaw Sumunod taking the top spots on iTunes PH Music Video charts. The boys are pumped to continue sharing Filipino culture on the global stage while bringing back the good old dance party spirit with a modern twist.
